Join UIC’s Center for Latinx Literature of the Americas as they welcome poet Maricela Guerrero from Lit & Luz’s 2023 Collaboration Cohort. Guerreo will be joined by poet and anthropologist, Eliana Hernández Pachón. This event will be a reading and conversation, moderated by UIC faculty member, Daniel Borzutzky. Author of nine poetry collections, Guerrero focuses on generating a critical vision about life, our relationship with nature, family, and everyday life. Guerrero’s El sueño de toda célula (Ediciones Antílope/Instituto Veracruzano de la Cultura, Mexico City, 2018) won the Clemencia Isaura Prize in 2018. Pachón’s first book, La mata (Laguna Libros/Cardumen, 2020), utilizes poetics to explore and document what it may have been like to experience the El Salgado massacre in Colombia.
