Black/Latinx Colloquium
Highlighting Black diasporic Latinx culture in the U.S. and Latino America.
This series of critical conversations and lectures is a proposed collaboration between English, Latin American and Latino Studies, and Black Studies at UIC. We foster intellectual and social solidarities between Latinx and Black communities at UIC, Chicago, and the U.S. as a whole. Speakers will focus on Black diasporic Latinx culture in the U.S and Latin America; the relationships between Black and Latinx communities, and anti-racist movements throughout the hemisphere. Our colloquium will think transnationally about Black-Latinx political and cultural expression across regional and national borders.
